Dr. Jafri completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute in 1988, where he served as Chief Resident.  He then joined the medical staff as an attending physician.  Dr. Jafri also serves as a consultant in the specialties of Pain Medicine and Physiatry at JFK Medical Center, Roosevelt Care Center and as consulting Physiatrist at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

Dr. Jafri established inpatient Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs for patients who undergo open heart surgeries, including patients with heart transplants and ventricular assistive devices as well as pre and post lung transplant patients.

He has been teaching residents in PM&R since 1988. Furthermore, he teaches Pain Medicine fellows from the Pain Fellowship Programs at JFK Medical Center and RWJ University Hospital.

Dr. Jafri has lectured locally, nationally and internationally on topics of Pain Management. He coauthored a chapter on Cardiac Rehabilitation in the book “Physical medicine and Rehabilitation Medicine Board Review” and also wrote a chapter on Pain Management in the book “Women with Disabilities: A Comprehensive Guide to Care”.  He has also authored numerous abstracts and articles published in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Jafri is a Diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pain Medicine.  He is a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Academy of Pain Medicine.
