JFK Medical Center accommodates more than 20,000 admissions, 3,000 births, and more than 50,000 Emergency Room visits. Key divisions of the Medical Center are: the the Regional Cancer Center, the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute, the JFK Center for Behavioral Health, the Family Practice Center, and the JFK Mediplex Surgery Center. The JFK Imaging Center provides a full range of diagnostic examination services, including MRI testing, and is home to the JFK Breast Center. The JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute
The 94-bed facility is nationally renowned for the diagnosis and treatment of, and the education and advocacy for those with physical disabilities. A major component of the institute is the Center for Head Injuries and the innovative Day Rehabilitation Program, an alternative to inpatient care that provides comprehensive rehabilitation on an outpatient basis. JFK Hartwyck Nursing, Convalescent and Rehabilitation Centers are located at three sites in Plainfield and Edison. The facilities provide more than 500 long-term care beds for traditional nursing home care, rehabilitation, subacute, medical rehabilitation care, respite care and more. The Centers also offer the community special designated programs for patients diagnosed with Huntington's disease, brain injuries, orthopedic injuries and those who are ventilator-dependent.
JFK Hartwyck Adult Day Care is located in Edison and offers an adult medical and dementia day program, operating weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The goal of the program is to enhance the life of clients and to help them avoid or postpone long-term care placement.
The Regional Cancer Center is committed to providing high quality care for people with cancer. The Center offers all the services needed to effectively identify and treat cancer, including state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, surgery, medical oncology, radiation therapy, investigational trials, stereotactic radiosurgery, nursing care, counseling, nutritional support, discharge planning, outpatient services and hospice care.
Our cancer patients benefit from a team approach to treatment, which involves a wide array of specially trained professionals. Depending on the particular type of cancer and the circumstances surrounding the case, the patient's primary care physician may be assisted by a number of physicians from various specialties, including pathologists, oncologists, neuro-oncologists, surgeons, hematologists, radiologists and radiation oncologists. These physicians, in turn, are supported by registered nurses, radiation therapists, pharmacy personnel, dietitians, counselors and licensed social workers.
The Regional Cancer Center at JFK Medical Center is accredited by the American College of Surgeons. Because of the comprehensive services available, the need for patients and their familiees to travel out of central New Jersey for state-of-the-art cancer treatment is eliminated. Patients and families can take comfort in knowing they will receive advanced technical treatments from caring experts close to home.
JFK Mediplex Surgery Center is an outpatient surgery center that offers a variety of same-day procedures, including laser, endoscopic and arthroscopic surgery. A free-standing facility for same-day surgery, the JFK Mediplex Surgery Center is located at 98 James Street. Outpatient procedures performed at the Center include orthopedic, dental, plastic, gynecologic, general, ear/nose/throat, and podiatric surgery. Endoscopic procedures are also performed.
Muhlenberg Campus, located in Plainfield, is commited to serving the healthcare needs of area residents. Through clinical treatement programs, support services, health education, and business the Muhlenberg Campus is a vital and active member of the community. Here residents have access to an array of services including: a Satellite Emergency Department for basic emergency care, Imaging & Laboratroy Services for routine outpatient diagnostic procedures, Dialysis Treatment, Home Health Care, the Sleep Lab, and Wound Care Program.
